Columbus County was formed in 1808 from parts of Bladen and Brunswick Counties.  It was named for the legendary explorer Christopher Columbus. Our county is the 3rd largest in size, but the 96th in wealth. The population of Columbus County is 55,000.

The Register of Deeds Office records all land transactions, birth, deaths, and marriages that occur in Columbus County.

8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Documents are recorded

8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Marriage Certificates issued

8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
