Kandance H. Bullock, County Register of Deeds, announces temporary changes in all in-person services but stresses that the Register of Deeds office is still open for business.
Effective immediately, the Register of Deeds office will adhere to CDC and local authorities’ recommendations by promoting social distancing to protect all staff and public during this State of Emergency. Ms. Bullock highly encourages the public to utilize her office’s online services such as electronic recording of real estate documents and online requests for birth, death and marriage certificates.
The office is limiting in person contact. We will be operating by appointment only.
The public is encouraged to call the Register of Deeds office at 910-640-6625 if there are any questions.


Columbus County was formed in 1808 from parts of Bladen and Brunswick Counties. It was named for the legendary explorer Christopher Columbus. Columbus county is the 3rd largest in size and has a population of over 55,000.

The Register of Deeds Office records all land transactions, birth, deaths, and marriages that occur in Columbus County.

Documents are Recorded 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Marriage Certificates 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
