Columbus County was formed in 1808 from parts of Bladen and Brunswick Counties. It was named for the legendary explorer Christopher Columbus. Columbus county is the 3rd largest in size and has a population of over 55,000.

The Register of Deeds Office records all land transactions, birth, deaths, and marriages that occur in Columbus County.

Documents are Recorded 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Marriage Certificates 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
