The Register of Deeds office files all birth certificates for people born in Columbus County. A certified copy of a birth certificate is $10.00. This copy may be used for any legal purpose. A plain copy is $.25.The Register of Deeds office files all death certificates for Columbus County. A certified copy of a death certificate is $10.00. This copy may be used for any legal purpose. A plain copy is $.25.
If you are away from Columbus County and need to receive a certified copy of your birth or an immediate family member’s birth or death certificate, please write to us at the following address:

A certifed copy is $10.00 and a copy for genealogy purposes is $.25. Please send money order.
Please send a note with all the information such as name at birth or death, date of birth or death, parents’ name with the mother’s maiden name, your signature now, and a self addressed stamped envelope. Please include your phone number if we need to call you if there is a problem.
